Necklace: Golden Crystals
Golden crystal quartz nuggets and silver embossed Tibetan pendant; aragonite rounds beads and silver rondelles finish this statement necklace.
Another addition to the Hearthside Collection–for warm firelight seems to be reflected through these quartz crystals. They are cut in a rustic, freeform fashion, as though just freshly dug from the earth, and then paired with the fine craftsmanship of a beautiful repoussé silver focal bead.
The French word repoussé refers to an ancient technique of creating design and texture in a piece of metal. Repoussé literally means to push forward or push up (it means “push up” in French); it refers to the metal being raised by hammering from the back to create dimension on the front. Smaller objects with these embossed designs, such as this focal bead, are a beautiful way to add more subtle texture to a necklace.
In the pictures I tried to show the glinting highlights of these lovely crystals. But they’re not the only star of the show! Aragonite is one of my favorite gemstones, and the soft butter yellow of these particular round beads really lent themselves well to highlight the gold of the crystals. The strand of the necklace is finished out with the aragonite, interspersed with silver plated rondelle beads. All in all the necklace has a weighty presence, and it is double crimped for extra security.
Length: Necklace length is about 20 inches. For a little movie that shows more of where it hangs, see below, and if you would like to see this on a chart, click here.
