The winter light here is somber, to put it delicately; but this painting by Maurice Cullen has me obsessed with its silvery highlights and deep plum shadows; these are the colors of Now... and if you’re thinking labradorite so am I! A couple of pieces in the works—these earrings were also inspired by the latest @beadshopdotcom LookBook which was amazing!! Like a bit of spring in preview; highly recommended! (because you know I love books🤩) The herringbone earrings you see here stitch up quickly, and are modelled after the example in the Lookbook designed by the talented @daniellewickesjewelry 👍🏻!! ( this example uses a tierracast earring piece but not the one used in the lookbook) #herringbonestitch

For love of a tree...🌲🌳 this is the first of a couple ideas I have for jewelry to mark the passing of a favorite tree. I grew up around big trees, and I never tire of seeing them. I tend to fall in love with trees, actually, and losing one is painful. When one has to come down, it is a bit like losing a friend—they are such a vital part of our landscape. The tree that has to go is a huge old ash; scene of countless interactions with squirrels and birds; it also pruduces the most beautiful moss. Just yesterday I was being scolded by a nursing mom squirrel who gave me such A Look... I think her nest is in the neighboring tree. 🌲 The old ash is sick and dying; we had an arborist come out and he confirmed what we knew—it has to come down or it presents a danger. Limbs are already snapping off... 🌲🌲🌲 So this necklace uses mahogany beads! They are natural.. if you look closely at one of the pictures they resemble little stumps. I love the woodland colors here; stones are olive jade and banded agate, with a little prehnite surprise charm at the end of the chain.
